Bees buzzing around lavendar on a perfect sunny day in spring in my back yard. Recorded with a rode cardioid mic on a zomm 4h field recorder. Neighbourhood noise more of an ambience than a sound effect.

Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. The sound touches 0db one times, but is rather undistorted (at least digitally). Recorded with audacity @ 48khz/16-bit and saved as flac.

Jokes on you! thats not a real bird. It was in fact my mouth that made the noise. Well technically i made a weird noice into the mic, then i only kept the high pitched sounds and with a little bit of editing. So yeah, it is my mouth but not the raw sound. I'm not that good. If you could tell that it wasn't a bird from the start then you get the prize of downloading this sound :).

Urban rooster from portland, or calls at 0:01, 1:20, 3:08, and 5:25 with an array of sounds in between: airplanes overhead, cars driving by, assorted bird chirps and caws, and even some wind boom-noise to play with. An accidental bump of the mic at 0:08 (sorry) should be the only major blemish in an otherwise funny first field-recording.

Recorded at ferry terminal in tsawwassen, bc, canada. It's like alfred hitchcock's the birds in there! they have a pesky starling issue. Thousands of noisy birds hanging out under the shelter of a tall metal tower -- kind of echoey sound, some wind and mic noise. Recorded with iphone on the spur of the moment cause it was so impressively noisy!.

This is a simple recording of the passing crowd in the heart of the latin quarter of paris, france, on a wednesday evening between christmas and new year's eve. The recording was made at the corner of the pedestrian xavier privas and huchette streets, with the mics aimed diagonally across the street, about 4. 5 feet above ground. By a happy coincidence (i'd like to say that i engineered it, but i didn't), this sound file loops seamlessly. The clip includes the sounds of many people passing by (the area was very crowded), and some snippets of conversation, mostly in french, with a few other languages thrown in. Some faint traffic noise can be heard on the left, from the busy quai saint michel street along the south bank of the seine river, at the north end of the xavier privas street (left of the mics in this recording). Recorded with a hand-held zoom h4n, stereo, 96 khz / 24 bits, built-in mics.

I recorded with a zoom h4n in 44. 1khz wav quality.

It's a recording of sounds of an old store refridgerator. The recorder (zoom h2) was put into the fridge. There are sounds of fridge getting opened and closed, started up and stopped. It was recorded in a dance studio, hence the music in the background audible in the beginning. Lots of interesting noises this fridge makes. Recorded with zoomh2 rear mics from inside of the fridge. Converted to flac using audacity.

Not only do chicken carcasses make a tasty stock they also make great sounds when you mangle them about a bit!. Various squelching and squishing sounds with the occasional bone snap. I needed a rattle-snake sound for a tracklay so recorded myself shaking my salt and pepper grinders. Considering i recorded this on a stereo mic in the bedroom of my two-bed flat, i think it came out pretty well!. This is the processed version, which has been through noise reduction and high-pass filtering (soft cut off begins somewhere around 200hz). I believe that this has drastically improved the raw recording, but if you would like to use the original and process it yourself, feel free to send me a message and i will upload it. Recorded using my zoom h1 at 48k/32-bit (because i didn't realise it wasn't set to 96k. . . Whoops!).

This recording was made in the afternoon during a rainshower under my carport in louisiana. The rain is striking three different surfaces in this track: cement, roofing and plantlife. Now, i'm no pro, nor is my equipment (olympus ws-310m w/ built in mic), so discerning these different sounds is difficult. You can hear the dripping from rain: fast drip in the background of this track. However slight, there is also a noticeable electronic note which is simultaneous with the water striking these surfaces. You can also hear slight rustling sounds that could be wind or my shirt moving near the mic (i was wearing the device on a lanyard). The file is wav, recorded in stereo at 16 bit at 44. 1mhz.

I was demoing the new digital performer 10. 1 with a royer r-10 pair in blumlein array but wanted to check out one of the ribbons because it possibly sounded blown so i went ahead not bothering to create a new mono file. The mic was tracked through a yamaha mixer into digital performer via a motu 624. I have various cymbals including a paiste hi-hat and a zildjian ride which i bowed or scraped. There is an occasional tiny bit of noise from the hard drive, sorry. It has the hiccups. Some of these have an effect or two like a flange on one or more and a bit of delay but mostly you just hear the marvelous and very interesting cymbals!.

My contribution to the freesouond collaborative performance of gyorgi ligeti's "poème symphonique for 100 metronomes". The metronome is marked "wittner" and "made in w. Germany". It ran for a little over 13 minutes at about 140. 7 bpm. Recorded on the hardwood floor of my bedroom, with the mic in front about 30 cm away. Equipment used: oktava mk102 mic, art digital mpa preamp, m-audio audiophile card. This sample is completely unprocessed. It looks limited or clipped, but i can't hear it - must be from the tube preamp (i had the gain cranked way up). It's pretty quiet, but if you listen carefully you may hear some noises in the background, especially near the beginning where i leave the room.

Recording of the tires of a flat bed trailer going over a gravel path. This was from a hayride where i was sitting in the back with a bunch of kids being pulled by the tractor. Recorder was just a couple of feet from the wheel so most of the kids noises and even the tractor engine get drowned out, but still somewhat audible in spots. There are two recordings, one taken from the side with the mic at the wheel and one with the mic under the trailer while recording. (this is the one with the recorder under the trailer. ). Recorded with a sony icd-px312. .

Tiny waves lapping the quartzite pebbles (1-2cm diameter) on a beach at lake pedder. Recorded 21 march 2019, 3am, with the internal mics on a marantz pmd661. For noise reduction, capture a noise print around 0. 09. Exceptionally quiet night, no wind, no other sounds. The gordon river power station was 20 kms distant. Other mechanical equipment or vehicles greater then 50 kms. I could just perceive the electrical hum from the station (or from transmission lines), and so could my partner, but i can’t hear it on the recording. See also "tiny waves lapping #1".

Skype interference or feedback sound effect. Its the sound your computer makes if your speakers are too loud. What happens is that your computer plays the sound coming from the person on the other side and then it plays over there and then plays back on your computer, it builds up in waves. Just turn your sound down and it should go away.

These are 8 lobsters sold at louisbourg in a cool-box awaiting their demise, saturday, 16 june 2007. Some of them were making this noise; others were silent, or just tapping their palps against the box or the other lobsters periodically. I made this recording of ambient backgroud noise directly beneath the eiffel tower. The shape of the eiffel tower creates a unique acoustic environment in the vicinity of the tower, especially beneath it. You can hear a much higher level of background noise than you would hear in an open area, and the noise is unusual. The tower is made of thin pieces of iron arranged into a complex and very large lattice, which reflects and slices and dices sound in a unique way. Thus you have a high level of very even and unidentifiable background noise as noises from the ground and the platform get bounced around and distorted by the structure of the tower. This recording was made from the ground, with microphones pointed straight upwards about 2 meters off the ground. Noises from the ground travel upwards and bounce around the inside of the tower, then drift back down. There are noises in the tower itself as well, such as elevator motors and people on the platforms. The first platform, at 57 meters, is open in the center, whereas the second platform, at 116 meters, is completely closed and flat on the bottom. Wind moving through the tower also makes noise, and again the open structure of the tower changes the noise in a way that is specific to the eiffel tower. There wasn't much wind at ground level for this recording, but i don't know what the wind speed was at higher levels in the tower. Some voices in multiple languages are audible in the recording, as the area beneath the tower is awash in tourists. Recorded hand-held with a zoom h4n and a mini windjammer, using built-in mics, in stereo 96 khz / 24 bits, then converted to mp3 at 320 kbps because of the size of the file. Duration is about two minutes.

A typhoon thunderstorm recorded in a backyard of an apartment complex in xinyi district, taipei city, taiwan, in late august, 2022. Rain can be heard falling on grass, the glass roof over the recording area, and various roof materials in the area such as tin, brick, concrete, and clay tile. Occasionally, there is thunder. Recorded on a zoom h1n with a wind filter, at its 96k 24 bit option, mic sensitivity control wheel set to 6 (out of 10). Due to the length of the recording, this is part 1 of 2.
